Aim, structure and tasks of the organization
The CAK is a public organisation which carries out the following tasks:
- the financing of healthcare providers who provide long-term care under the Long Term Care Act
- the calculation and collection of personal benefits of insured persons residing in long-term care institutions and persons who receive support under the Social Support Act
- the collection of contribution imposed on people who take out health insurance and fail to pay for their insurance premium
- imposing fines on unisured persons without health insurance
- ensuring healthcare coverage for persons living abroad and who are not insured under the international/EU coordination regulations – international liaison office for benefits in kind.
- reimbursing care providers for costs of medical care to foreigners without a residence permit in the Netherlands
- implementing the National Contact Point for cross-brder healthcare
