The German National Association of Statutory Health Inusrance Funds (GKV-Spitzenverband) represents all statutory healthcare and long-term care insurance funds in Germany and, thus, the interests of more than 70 million insured persons and contribution payers when dealing with politics and healthcare providers. It advises the German parliaments and ministries under current legislative procedures and has a statutory responsibility to look after the interests of German healthcare and long-term care insurance funds with regard to supranational and international organisations and institutions. The GKV-Spitzenverband is a member of the German Social Insurance (Deutsche Sozialversicherung, DSV).
The German Liaison Office for Health Insurance - Abroad (Deutsche Verbindungsstelle Krankenversicherung - Ausland, DVKA) is part of GKV-Spitzenverband.
